Lucile Hage scrapbook

Abstract Lucile Hage was a student of the University of Southern California, class of 1924. The small scrapbook contains many small photographs of family members (presumably hers), including a young girl (possibly Lucile as a child). Abstract Robert Lee Heath (1881-1974) joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 1904 and rose through the ranks to serve as Chief of Police from 1924-1926. The R. Lee Heath scrapbook contains a total of more than 200 newspaper clippings and items of ephemera. Scope and Contents Randall Henderson was a noted college basketball player for USC between 1909 and 1911. (He later became well-known for his environmental efforts concerning the deserts of Southern California, and published Desert Magazine. Scrapbook and photo album, created by William M. Hogue, 1924-1929, 1953, documenting the musical, theatrical, academic, and professional careers of Hogue, an engineering student and trombonist, and his friend, Harold Roberts, a band leader, while studying at the University of Southern California during the Roaring 20s, with newspaper clippings, photos, broadsides, business cards, and programs for the USC Dance Band, Golden State Band, and USC Band.

Harriet Howe papers

Abstract

Harriet Abott Howe was a life-long writer who published poetry and short essays in Los Angeles and San Francisco newspapers and magazines during the 1890s, but after that does not seem to have been entirely successful in publishing her work. She was also active in the Women's Club, the purpose of which was the education, elevation and protection of womankind. The Harriet Howe papers consist predominantly of typescripts of Howe's poetry, essays, and stories.

Abstract

This fourteen volume scrapbook collection consists of clippings pasted into official reports issued by the US Post Office (the volume numbered 5 is only half filled with clippings, and as such the remainder of the report, "Report of the Pstmaster-General" can be clearly read). The clippings cover a wide variety of topics--literature, music, sports, theatre, society notes, art, etc. Very few of the sources are identified, although San Francisco, New York, and London are mentioned.
